01 · Why
Why this course exists

Tissue culture isn't magic.
It's method, patience and recipe.

Most internet tutorials teach you one step. You buy a kit, follow a generic recipe, and when something fails — and it will — you don't know why. You're left with a room of contaminated plants and the feeling that this “isn't for you”.

This course is the opposite. We take you through the full path, with enough theory to understand why each step, and enough practice that when something fails you know how to diagnose and fix it. You don't memorize recipes — you learn to read them and write your own.

At the end you'll have a working lab, a validated protocol for your target species, and the business criteria to turn it into a profitable operation (or the most impressive hobby on your block — your call).

03 · Curriculum
What you'll learn

From jar to garden.
Full cycle covered.

Video 1 covers the first phase of in vitro — initiation: explant initiation, media formulation, autoclaving and aseptic transfer. Video 2 takes your culture further: multiplication, rooting and acclimatization.

01

Initiation

Choosing and preparing the explant from an ornamental plant. How to decide which tissue enters the system.

included in Video 1
Deliverable: Print-ready initiation checklist
02

Media formulation

Preparing the initiation medium: salts, sugar, agar and regulators. The right food for the explant to take off.

included in Video 1
Deliverable: Media calculation spreadsheet
03

Autoclaving

Sterilizing media and tools. Times, pressure, visual checks and validation tests.

included in Video 1
Deliverable: Step-by-step autoclaving SOP
04

Transfer

The in vitro leap. Laminar hood, aseptic handling and seeding the explant into the jar.

included in Video 1
Deliverable: Transfer protocol + hood checklist
05

Multiplication

Subculture and shoot proliferation: from one explant, many. When and how to divide to multiply.

included in Video 2
Deliverable: Multiplication protocol
06

Rooting

Inducing functional root. Auxins, diluted media, activated charcoal. When the plantlet is ready to leave the jar.

included in Video 2
Deliverable: Rooting decision tree
07

Acclimatization

Humidity, substrate and light ramp. The transition that decides whether your batch survives ex vitro.

included in Video 2
Deliverable: Acclimatization calendar + calibrated substrate

05 · Instructor
Jose Marcano Camacho

Jose Marcano Camacho

Founder, Joe's Exotic Lab LLC · Puerto Rico

Jose has been in professional plant cultivation since 2014. He started by importing exotic specimens from Indonesia, but traditional propagation couldn't keep up with market demand. So he turned to tissue culture: producing at scale — one plant into hundreds, fast and healthy.

Today, from his lab in Puerto Rico, he clones Anthuriums, Alocasias, Monsteras and Philodendrons — even Musa (banana) varieties obtained through the USDA. He combines scientific rigor (hormone optimization, lab automation) with the real economics of the exotic-plant market. This course is, literally, what he does every week.

07 · FAQ

Everything you wanted to know.

  • No. Video 1 covers all the vocabulary and basic practices. All you need is patience and curiosity — tissue culture rewards method, not speed.

  • It'll happen at first — it happens to all of us, it's part of learning. That's why the course leans so hard on sterilization: every mistake you cut raises your success rate. I teach you to spot contamination early and, above all, to prevent it.

  • The method is step by step and you can replay the video as many times as you want (lifetime access). And if you get stuck, you email me directly — I read every message and help you figure out what to adjust.

  • Functional home version: USD 800–1,500 (pressure cooker, DIY hood, LED lighting and starter consumables). Professional version: USD 3,000–8,000. Video 1 shows the essentials; Video 2 includes the prioritized shopping list with exact links.

  • The focus is ornamental plants — the workflow applies to Philodendron, Monstera, Anthurium, Alocasia and any tropical ornamental. Video 2 includes a guide on adjusting the protocol when you switch species.

  • Buying gets you in instantly: we email you the video link right away. Your Stripe receipt arrives instantly.

  • Lifetime. Not one week, not one year. The video stays available whenever you need it — come back to the recipe when you're running your next batch.

  • Yes. Stripe offers installment payments via Klarna and Affirm for US residents. For LATAM clients, write to hola@joesexoticlab.com and we'll arrange a direct payment plan.

  • Plant Cell Technology, Cornell and academic programs are serious technical references — we respect them. The practical difference: they charge without publishing prices (you have to register to see the number), teach in English, and cover generic tissue culture. We publish every tier up front, teach in Spanish-primary (with English support), and specialize in rare tropicals. If you want formal academic TC in English, go there. If you want a course to produce rare tropicals with clear pricing and lifetime access, this one.

  • Not formally tiered yet — but yes. Email us at hola@joesexoticlab.com with your country and we'll arrange a local-currency payment plan or split tier adjusted to the exchange rate. The intention is that nobody committed gets locked out by FX differences.
